Sewer Line Repair & Replacement in Riverside, CA

Plumbing MATTers Rooter & Plumbing Services

Your sewer line carries every drop of wastewater from the house to the city main. You don’t think about it until it stops working: toilets gurgle, drains back up, or there’s a sewage smell in the yard.

We find out exactly what’s wrong before recommending anything. Every sewer job starts with a camera inspection, and you get to see the footage. Then we explain your options and do the repair or replacement, with permits pulled when the work needs them.

Call (909) 714-2207 about a sewer problem. Sewage backing up into the house right now? We take emergency calls 24/7.

Signs your sewer line needs attention

  • More than one drain is slow or backing up, especially toilets, tubs and floor drains at the same time
  • Gurgling from toilets or drains when another fixture runs
  • Water coming up in the shower or tub when you flush or run the washer
  • Sewage smell inside or around the yard
  • A soggy, sunken or extra-green patch of lawn over the line
  • Clogs that keep coming back after the drain’s been cleared
  • Rodents or insects getting in, which can mean a break in the line
One slow sink is usually a local clog. Several drains acting up at once usually points to the main sewer line.

What goes wrong with sewer lines around here

We see all of these in Riverside and the Inland Empire:
  • Tree roots getting into joints and cracks, then growing until they block the line
  • Old clay pipe cracking and separating at the joints
  • Cast iron corroding from the inside, scaling up and eventually splitting
  • Orangeburg pipe, a fiber pipe used in some older homes, which softens and collapses over time
  • Bellies, low spots where the pipe has sagged and waste collects
  • Grease buildup, especially on kitchen lines and commercial properties

It starts with a camera inspection

We run a camera down the line to see the problem directly instead of guessing. The camera shows what’s wrong, where it is along the line, and how much of the pipe is affected. We’ll show you the footage, so you can see for yourself why we’re recommending what we’re recommending. See our sewer camera inspection service.

Repair or replace?

What we recommend depends on what the camera finds:

Clearing the line

If the problem is roots or grease and the pipe itself is sound, the fix may be cleaning rather than digging. Hydro jetting scours the inside of the pipe clean, and we can camera the line afterwards to confirm it’s clear.

Spot repair

If the damage is in one section (a cracked pipe, a separated joint or a single belly), we dig down to that section and replace just the damaged part.

Full sewer line replacement

If the line is old clay, Orangeburg or badly corroded cast iron, or it has problems along much of its length, replacing the whole line is usually the better investment. Patching one spot on a failing pipe often just moves the problem down the line.

We do traditional excavation repairs. We’ll tell you plainly which option we’d choose and why.

Sewer cleanouts

A cleanout gives direct access to your sewer line for clearing and inspection. If your home doesn’t have one, or the existing one is damaged or hard to reach, we can install one, often as part of a repair.

Sewer line FAQs

How do I know if it's the main sewer line or just a clogged drain?

If one fixture is slow, it’s probably a local clog. If several drains are slow or backing up at once, especially the toilets and the lowest drains in the house, the main sewer line is the likely culprit. A camera inspection confirms it.

Do I have to replace the whole sewer line?

Not always. If the damage is in one spot and the rest of the pipe is in good shape, a spot repair is often enough. If the line is old clay, Orangeburg or badly corroded cast iron, replacement is usually the better long-term fix. The camera footage shows which situation you’re in.

Do you do trenchless sewer repair?

No. We do traditional excavation repair and replacement. We’ll explain exactly how much digging your job needs before work starts.

Can tree roots be fixed without replacing the pipe?

Sometimes. Hydro jetting clears roots out of the line, but roots get in through cracks and joints, so they’ll come back if the pipe is damaged. The camera shows whether the pipe can be cleaned or needs repair.

Do you pull permits?

Yes. We pull the required permits for sewer line replacement.

What should I do if sewage is backing up right now?

Stop using water in the house: no flushing, laundry or dishwasher. Then call us. We take emergency calls 24/7.
